A couple of weeks ago I travelled to York and recorded a session with Matthew for our collaborative venture as Garcia. The result was a multi-layered 20 minute track which we have each done our own mix of. This is mine.

I read up on some of the crew members involved and quite a few on IMDB. One guy did sound for The Hurt Locker and The Boat That Rocked (alongside many others), and another does props for the Harry Potter films. There were a couple others also with impressive resumes.

I’m quite surprised, as although I had heard that some reputable people were working on the project I wasn’t sure whether to believe it or not. I feel pretty pleased to have been involved with the project

Video: Ideas Factory

This was originally made in 2004 and was 1 minute long, as it had quite a lot of text and other information crammed into it to advertise Channel 4’s Ideas Factory, but I was never really a fan of all that stuff. I decided to cut it all out leaving me with the good stuff, now lasting only 25 seconds. 

I’ve also added a new soundtrack (the original being a simple bass riff). It’s nondescript really but I think the new soundtrack suits a bit better. I went for a “ropey old 70’s instructional video” feel.

DIY DOF adaptor test footage / experiment

He’d laid most of the film out in the time line already so the majority of what was required was tidying up and getting the pacing back. I watched the film through a couple of times and took notes, then offered my thoughts on what needed to change or what could be polished up.

There was some really nice footage to work with, and Simon’s performance was pretty strong. We spent most of our time focusing on 3 particular scenes, getting them to flow properly and making them look right. I was supposed to spend the night and hang out ‘on set’ the next day but after some shoddy sleep the previous night and an early rise that day, all I could think of was a lie in so I travelled back that night, arriving at my bed this morning.

Still tired now tbh.

Good luck with the shoot today and fingers crossed the film makes it over the pond!
